PRESENTER: Sonal Kavia

November 2nd:Breakout Session

As the Founder of Centered in Peace Coaching and Consulting, Sonal Kavia has dedicated the last decade to growing relationships and cultivating conversations that matter around awareness and well-being at the center of our systems.

After teaching in her own classroom for several years, Sonal shared strategies for well-being with educators and systems leaders in K-12 schools, collaborated on university initiatives, and worked closely with non-profit organizations. She has collaborated with rural, First Nation, and urban community leaders to explore ways of being that are nourishing to the spirit.  Sonal’s heart is fullest when fostering personal professional development through ‘inner knowing and outer radiance”.  She is a certified facilitator of trauma-sensitive mindfulness meditation and yoga and has led private and group embodiment sessions. Her leadership studies include training with the Presencing Institute, Demers Group, and Margaret Wheatley.  Sonal’s research thesis explored embodied & relational presence in education, teacher identity, contemplative pedagogy, and compassionate school culture.

Join Sonal for a gentle experiential session rooted in the principles and practices of present moment attention and awareness, deep listening, and understanding of the inner resource.  Let’s wonder together: How might we be “self-responsive IN the moment”? (David Treleavan, 2018).  Additionally, we will explore relational mindfulness to foster awareness of the bridge between ourselves and others, and of our sense of togetherness. This is an opportunity for participants to practice gentle seated mindful movement as an embodied practice and explore an understanding of how mindfulness is woven into the fabric of our daily lives and moments.
